Second day of class

Tuesdays are my longest days at school, because I don't have a free period. I've got classes today from 8:30am and I stayed till about 5pm. Today I met the other Native English teacher that I will be working with. Her Name is Erin Suzuki. A Japanese last name because she's married to a Japanese guy. Her Japanese I've heard is perfect, but she's a white person from Wisconsin. She's recently announced that she's pregnant so all the students are wondering if I'm her replacement. She only works on Tuesdays and only 4 periods. I don't think that I'm her replacement, but I think it's a weird situation to begin with. At this point, I think I'm still just a part-time woker so I'm just temporary till she comes back. But she doesn't look pregnant so I'm thinking I won't take over for her until 6 months down the line.

I'm sure she was hurt from hearing that she was being replaced, and since she just met me today for the first time and no one told her that I'd be working with her. I think that will complicate the situation a little more. The school isn't that good with adjusting people to the situation with everyone. I always feel they put me in a bad situation. I don't think I'm replacing her because they only signed me on for a one year contract, so they will have to find two people to replace next year. But it's just the first week, i'm sure that I'll get more information as time goes along. I can really see the difference between the two native teacher's teaching style. I can see the advantages of both teachers, but I'll have to find something that adds my own style to the school and to the class that students can effectly learn and still enjoy it. I've gotta think!
