Otaru
We got up around 8:30am to get ready to go to Otaru. We went to go pick up SKdo's ex-gf and then we were off to Otaru. Otaru is a little known town outside of Sapporo. It's supposed to be really famous for it's architecture. So it took about an hour or so to get there. The town was really nice. The weather was kinda getting cold and it was raining. I mean it started to rain as soon as we got there. I actually missed the rain since I haven't seen it in a LONG time.
But they didn't like it so we decided to go get something to eat to pass the time. We walked into a really nice shashimi restaurant. I ordered something mixed, which costed around $30. It tasted really good too. It came with some killer desserts and a grip of other stuff. But SKdo being the nice guy he is paid for it. I didn't really like that, but since I was a guest and paid for things when he was in San Diego, he wanted to pay for me.
From there we went walking around into the different shops and up and down the streets. I took a lot of pictures. There was even a showcase that had John Lennon's Glasses. We went to a couple of stores with music boxes, but they were damn expensive. There were a lot of statues of bears around, which is the presumptive mascot of Hokkaido. We went shopping a little more and then SKdo and his ex-gf bought a huge 6 flavored ice cream cone. She was eating it all weird too. She litterally ate half of it, but only on one side. It looked very strange.
We got back into the car and headed back to Sapporo. We were off to a place that we would be playing some pool. It took about an hour and a half to get there. We were talking a lot in the car. We started to play some pool. SKdo isn't that bad. He's been practicing since the last time we met. His ex-gf wasn't that bad either although she always lost. I kept on losing for technical mistakes, like calling the wrong hole or knocking the 8 ball in out of turn. But, I still won the most that night. From there we went back to his house and he had fireworks that we took to a park to play with. It was very fun. But every family i stay with in Japan loves to play with these things. It's kinda interesting. They make a big deal about it too. It lasted for about an hour or so. I realized tonight that SKdo is a very competitive kinda guy. It's very interesting. I'm not sure why, but it could be an inferiority complex. Interesting....
