Easy Day
After tutoring last night, I felt a bit guilty. I feel as if I’m charging too much to teach private lessons, but that’s the average price and I even gave her a discount for going 3 hours. But I wanted her to see the value of what she’s getting herself involved with. I’m getting soft and it’s embarrassing. I don’t know what happened to me, but I don’t like it. I stayed up pretty late last night, so I thought that I would sleep in today. I didn’t have much responsibility today since I only have one class. I took things slowly and woke up later than usual. That’s always nice I feel, because I was refreshed.
I went to get lunch before I stepped into work and the place I went to was packed and half. It was a yoshinoya of course, but I had a place to park my ass and get the food that I wanted. I felt as if I wasted a lot of the day because I woke up so late and got to work so late. I came to school right before lunch time so I had to sit there and watch all of the other teachers eat their food. They make me hungry, it’s really bad. I would get all hungry even though I just ate.
The 7th grade class today wasn’t too bad. It was an open school so there were parents looking at different rooms. There were supposed to be parents in our room, but it turned out that there were only other teachers coming in and out. I thought that was incredibly strange. But it was not a big deal. The lesson was on hobbies and we made them interview each other and ask questions. We wanted to get them ready for the English Fun Fair coming up on the 19th of Feb. It’s a good topic to ask the native speakers.
Class finished like normal and students weren’t too out of control. I stuck around school till late again. This time I stayed late because I had massive amounts of papers to grade. I was checking my 10th grade students’ manuscripts for their “debate” test. It was a very time consuming task, but I wanted to get them back to the students as soon as possible. I went through two classes of correcting English and interpreting sentences till 8pm. That’s quite a long time, from 2-8pm just grading. I did a little more than half of the correcting and figured since I’d have to wait around a long time tomorrow for the event in the evening, I would just finish up the next day.
I went home and grabbed some food at a place I’ve never even heard of before. I went to Kannai station and just started walking around till I saw something that I liked. I decided on a place that had something similar to Yoshinoya, but offered other things too. I had a katsudon type of dish with a side of udon noodles. I really was craving some ramen, but couldn’t find a shop to provide that for me. It’s really weird that on my way to work and going home there aren’t any that pop out at me to go to and get some ramen. There is this one place at toritsu-daigaku station right next to the Tokyo-mitsubishi bank, but I think that’s too close to my school and it wouldn’t be advisable to eat there. But I think one day I will and I am still waiting to try freshness burger too. That’s two places on my list that I need to do sometime in the near future.
When I got home, my internet was restored. I don’t have a very high signal or anything, but I’m happy that at the very least it works. I stayed up late to do some things and to check my e-mail. I turned out that I had collected over 500 e-mails in my absence from the internet. But I hadn’t even checked all my accounts either. Damn spam.
