The First Day of School

Today was the first day of classes back from the vacation. I didn't get much sleep last night and it wasn't difficult to get up because I didn't sleep much. We stayed up late talking and then I went to sleep late.

Anyways, I had a total of 5 classes today, plus English club. Kinda a lot for the first day and because I wasn't well rested. I was feeling a little bit uneasy about it.

My first class was second period and it was for the 9th grade. It was kinda eerie since all the students were extremely quiet. Some were falling asleep, but only some. The rest were very attentive, but extremely quiet. It made all the teachers uneasy too. I figured this was a sign about the rest of the day and possibly the rest of the semester. I didn't like that though. I'm sure not many teachers would like a very silent class, exspecially if they teach oral communication. The lesson was covering Health and Money for their trip to Santa Barbara in two months.

The next classes were the ones that I planned for. I was excited about it at first, but then came the reality of what if it sucks? It didn't turn out exactly as I planned it, but it got better throughout the day. I taught 4 classes consecutively using the same lesson plans. So each time I was able to improve the lesson and build upon it and fix all the kinks to it. I think that helped a lot to see how something goes from beginning to end. I'll have to do the same for next week as well. I could easily see the flaws in my lesson plans and how I was going to transition from one topic to another. And I don't have a set topic in place either. I'll have to think about it in more detail soon, since the next step is coming up fairly quickly. I don't have much of an idea of what I'm going to do yet, to fix the problems, but I know I've got to devote some time to it.

And for English club at the end of the day. The girls didn't show up. What was that all about? I waited around for another 2 hours after school, but the girls never showed up. One of them did to apologize that the members forgot, but I didn't really care either. Since I was already soo tired, I prefered just to go home and gather some rest. So that's what I did, I started to get my stuff and go home.

I went to another place at Kikuna station to grab some dinner. It was a Matsuya. I don't really like that place, but it offered curry rice which was something that I wanted to eat. That's why I went back to Kikuna station, and it was cheap and came with free miso soup. The meal was fairly good, but I didn't feel well and didn't want to eat that much anyways. So then I went back home.

To my surprise RWd was already back from his adventures of the day. I was like what's going on here? He's in Japan and he's staying at my house. I was hoping that he didn't stay there all day. So I started talking to him about what he did during the day. He had told me that he went to Yokohama to spend the day with his Japanese teacher from State. It sounded like fun, but they went to places that he's already been since I took him there already. He basically went around the Minato Mirai area from Sakuragicho station, to around the Yokohama World Porters building. I then asked him what he would be doing for the next day.

We started talking about it and then he decided that he would take the guided tour around Ueno park. There was some flyers that we had picked up about a free guided tour at the park. So he'd have to get up pretty early to get there in time to take the tour.

We were talking late again, and once again, I went to sleep late. That's so bad since I'm already tired.
