Going out with some high school friends in Tokyo

I woke up much later than I normally do today. I decided that since I didn’t sleep till around 2:30am last night, I would try to sleep in today. So I didn’t get up until 10am. I had to leave in about an hour to get to Shibuya station by 1pm. I was going to meet up with a friend from high school that I haven’t seen for years.

She, (KN) along with her boyfriend Khoa, will stay in Japan for the summer. So I’m assuming this will be the first of a few visits that I will have with them. Anyways, we were supposed to meet at Hachiko at 1pm, but I had waited there for a little while and they didn’t show up. So I figured that they might be at the wall of dogs instead of the statue of the dog. I was right with that guess and it was good to see them there.

We first went around the Shibuya area and found some ramen to eat. It was in the middle section of the Shibuya shopping area towards Outback steakhouse. The waitress there seemed to look very familiar. I don’t know why, but I think that I’ve seen her before and just not sure where.

After that, we went too Shibuya 109 and just went to the second floor and left the building. Then we walked over to Tower Records, went inside for just a little bit and then left there. We left Shibuya pretty quickly and headed to Harajuku by foot. We stopped by a little matsuri area by the shrine and bought some snacks. It was pretty good even though there was nothing inside of them.

We then went inside of Meiji shrine to look around a little bit. We went in but the walk was a little far. The shrine seemed rather small for being the largest in Japan. But I’ve been there already so it wasn’t that big of a deal. I think that they enjoyed it too, but the walk was a little far.

Then we left the shrine and took some pictures with some Goths. Even though I’ve been to Harajuku many times, I haven’t taken any pictures with them. So today I took one with them and not just of them. It was pretty cool. They were friendly like I expected them to be. It was nice and then we went down Takeshita street. Then we walked down to Omotesando street and bought a crepe in between. I had a chocolate cheesecake with whipped cream crepe. Then we left Harajuku for Shinjuku. After we arrived I took them to Kabukicho. We stopped off at Don Quixote for a little bit because they wanted to look for a coffee table for their little flat.

After walking around and looking at the street performances on the street, we settled down at a café that I’ve been to with some of the teachers at my school. It was nice and they liked it. I didn’t remember that it was very expensive and that I didn’t get much for it. But at least it was good to eat. Then we went back to the station and went our separate ways.

I came back to Hongodai station and started to buy some things that I needed for the upcoming month. I’ll have some guests coming soon so I got some things that I needed for that and for my trip to Okinawa. Then I proceeded to get umbrellas and dinner. I came home and started to watch Star Wars: Episode IV A new hope. It was really ghetto old style, but it was still good. It was all in Japanese though, so I think that I’ll have to get the English version online later.
