First day of tennis practice this summer

I had only planned on doing two things today. But to be honest with you, I’m really exhausted. My legs can barely move right now and I’m tired. I don’t know why since I’ve been walking a lot and getting a lot of exercise, but I guess it wasn’t enough to keep up when I was playing tennis. I’m just really sore from it all and my dress shoes are eating into my heels again. That’s not fun either.

At first I woke up a bit later than I wanted to. I needed to go to school today to take care of the immigration papers that I needed to finish up. So I went to the school and picked up some of the forms that I need to submit to the immigration office. It didn’t take as long as I thought it would take. I thought that I would have to start the process after I got back from Thailand, but it looks like I could get a jump on it tomorrow. I just need to fill out all the paperwork and submit it to immigration tomorrow.

I then went into the teachers’ office, but to my surprise, not many teachers were there. It was only a few actually. I would say around 8 or so, and that’s because they had just finished taking care of their extra classes. I jumped on the computer and tried to show my English department colleague my plan for the February 11th grade classes, but I think some things will have to change because I give out very similar scores. Since English is a skills class, they should all have different scores based on their skills.

We then played tennis from 3pm. I jumped into rotation with the girls and just hit the ball back and forth with them. We did a bunch of drills that tired me out a bit. I’m not much a drills person as I am just a player in tennis. I even got a chance to play with the other teacher for a short little rally.

I had to leave early because of the next thing that I needed to do. I wanted to go meet up with a friend that I met in March this year. She had just come back to Japan and she will be leaving again soon too. She will go to San Francisco to work at a travel agency. It was a nice conversation that we had at a yakitori place. We enjoyed a lot of good food and a few drinks. We had stayed there for 6 hours from 6pm to midnight. Then I had to walk about 30 minutes home. It’s about 2am now; I think I’ll have to write more later about what we talked about and how the tennis was today. I also forgot to mention that one of my friends from Grossmont went back to my school and left a note on my desk. It was a bit cool.
