Today was only 11.5 hours – Alex’s Birthday
That wasn’t so bad really. I just got three hours of sleep before this day started and then had to work 11.5 hours. I mean after you get started working days like this, you’d get used to it right? So I was pretty sleepy today and all throughout the day.
The first class I had today was my class with the 11th grade Yuri. I went over what would be on their test. They are pretty good and much better than I previously thought too. They did the listening activity very well and then I had them come up and speak. They’ve done it many times, so I feel for them. They will have a difficult time with it I think. We ran out of time too, it takes more than 10 minutes for them to get everyone up to speak. That’s important information to know.
The second class was with 8th grade Yuri. Today they were very tired and we did some stuff in the book about the communication goal and then having them write their own speech about themselves.
The third class was with 10th grade fuji. Once again they were a bit quiet and didn’t offer much response. It was a tad eerie. I really don’t like them being so quiet. We worked on the topic of weather, but we didn’t have the heart to let them know that it will rain on Saturday for their Cultural Festival. Then we did something out of the On Air communication book. I used it at the beginning of the year with the 11th graders.
Fifth period was with 9th grade kiku and we did the English play for the Wizard of Oz. They were pretty good today too. There was one girl who was slurring all her lines and didn’t stop or pause. That would probably be the only thing that really got my attention.
Sixth period was with 9th grade fuj and we did the English play for Annie. Today they were much better and more alive, but still very soft-spoken. It was hard to hear and I was in the first row watching them, so they’ll have to be louder for the performance on stage.
Seventh period was the time for the Clubs and classes to get some extra time to work on cultural festival stuff. I didn’t know that at first, so I didn’t help them yesterday and the day before. But today I helped out and let them know that we couldn’t use the room that we thought we were going to use. So we had to move all the cardboard and things like that.
After school I watched the 9th grade fuji class on stage and they were better. They were in costume and did the actions better. I got to hear Annie sing her song in the middle which I didn’t see before. It sounds lovely, but I don’t know what she’s saying.
After that we began work on the English club stuff. After we had moved all of our stuff from the L.L. on the third floor to the room that we will use for the cultural festival, which is room 105 on the first floor, we got bumped out because of a parent-teacher meeting to the third floor and in the advisors homeroom class. So that was a lot of moving around. We did some more things with cardboard and then we worked on coloring the cardboard with paper. We made the finishing touches with the reports too.
I left pretty late, I was aiming to walk to the station with another teacher, but I got held up and I think they just left before me.
