Class and Tennis
I had two classes with one student today. It was longer than I expected and really wasn’t prepared for it. It was more or less, just a review session. I didn’t want her to forget what we covered in the first semester. I was more motivated to teach then. I went over the material again with her and this time she was more receptive. It was the same things, but I explained them differently and I think that this time around, she was able to understand it better. She was taking more notes today too and more actively participating. I was happy with that. She was really chipper today too, yet she was tired because it was early. I actually enjoyed the time that I spent with her in class. She’s not a difficult student to teach, but I expect a lot of myself that I put too much pressure in myself to teach her something great every time. So even though we talked about things that we already talked about before, she didn’t complain about it. I think she likes that I do a PowerPoint presentation.
Then I played tennis for 3.5 hours with the tennis team. I wasn’t tired for even a little bit. I was more of a coach today, but if I am, I would be ashamed because I don’t think their skills are getting better. I sat out for most of the time since there were a lot of students today. Usually it’s only about 10-15, but today most of the team showed up and it was around 25 students. That’s a lot and since we don’t have a lot of space, we become very limited on what we can do. I had to explain things in English for them and it was hard to get the message across, but I hope that they will get better. I need to come up with what we should practice before we actually have practice. Since I’ve gotten more control of what to do, I need to make sure that I put it to good use. I want them to be championship material and I’ve got to start to build up their basic skills. They need to learn how to handle the ball and control it the way that they want to. They have a lot of work to do, and it’s going to be hard to get them to give up their bad habits, which they have a lot of. Once I’ve got more control and more time to focus with some students. I’d like to instruct them individually with what they could improve on. I think that teaching all of them at the same time, won’t work too well especially since each player has something different to wok on that everyone else, but most don’t even have the basics down. Some are ready for strategy, but most have no idea what they are doing on the court.
I left work very late today. I didn’t leave till around 6pm, but since it’s a Saturday that’s very late for me. Most of the teachers had already left hours before I did. I went to the LL today and found a few teachers there. There’s a rumor going around that they like each other and now that they are always together is shady. The guy teacher has a girlfriend too and is planning to get married at the end of next year. They are always together now, it’s almost sickening. I left school with another teacher too and I let her know of the news of what I found out. I think that some other people might be having the same talk about me and this teacher, but that wouldn’t happen since this teacher is married.
I found a website that will predict when you will die, if you die naturally aside from accidents or other causes like suicide. My expected day of death is December 19, 2079. That’s kind of long I think. I’ll live to be almost 100 years old, that’s much longer than I would really want actually. Go to deathclock.com to find out when you kick the bucket. It’s pretty interesting.
