Missed Opportunity and another wasted day

I helped my English department today, working at home when one of my co-workers called me today. We needed to come up with a line to put on this years’ Christmas card and we decided one this one “Have a heart-warming xmas! May it be joyful living with nature on our planet.” I’m not sure if it’s great or not, but it sounded good at the time and it fits the picture that is done by the art department. I think its good enough to do the job with what was described to me as being on the card. I had to include the words that they wanted to use too.

Since I’m at home, I’m usually on the computer and I was digging around and found this on Netscape. I was a bit surprised when I saw this link on the homepage, so I clicked on it. It was a bit weird as I was reading it because I happen to suffer from 9 of the 10 listed here (http://netscape.salary.com/articles/body/atcl_careeradvice.asp?atc=541) … I can’t imagine that it’s a good thing either. I really love my job, but I hate the fact that I have to save money for a whole year to get a new laptop that I’ve been dying to have for a long time. I’m not at all spending so much either. I just want to have enough to spare and enough to enjoy my time in Japan and to be able to fund trips to go abroad too. So far, I’ve only picked locations where the things aren’t as expensive as the U.S. or Japan. But I’m really considering asking for a raise, I just need to find the perfect time to do that.

I did some more shopping online for a new laptop and since I’m not considering a Mac anymore, I think I’ll go with the ultra powerful customized version of a Sony Vaio Type S. It’s going to cost me an arm and a leg for it though. Probably the most expensive thing I’ll buy in Japan. It’s more than a month and a half’s payment… and that’s a lot for a laptop. I mean, the cost-opportunity would be that like me going to a trip to Taiwan and Thailand twice. But I have decided that I will get it. I did the conversions and figured out that it’s much cheaper to buy it in Japan than in the US and I save about $1000 and I get more buying in Japan. With the pro version, I can change the language to English and have an English OS with all the cool ass features of the Japanese OS and all the Bluetooth technology as well as the upgraded version of the wireless internet too. I’m just planning out when I’m going to buy it. Since I’m leaving for Taiwan this month, that will be a big drain on my budget, but hopefully I won’t spend that much and I’ll probably buy it soon after that.

I realized that I need to plan out my family’s trip to Japan today too. I need to know how much money I will have left in order to pay for a new computer and not go absolutely broke. I realized that they will only stay for 11 days and not the 14 that I expected them to. I guess that we counted incorrectly but that puts more pressure to do more things otherwise a lot of things will be missed during the trip. I’m looking at it in perspective now and I think that it’s time that we work on getting a clearer idea otherwise it’ll fall through. And I hope that the weather holds up too otherwise the trains won’t work. I guess that it’ll be interesting to see what happens during that time, and it could end up being an at home all day time if it snows a lot. It’s much colder this year than it was last year. I never remembered it being this cold in November. And November has just started too.

I watched a lot of episodes of Everyone loves Raymond today. I was snacking a lot and I guess I never really got anything to eat. I know it’s not healthy, but my sleeping schedule has been knocked all out of whack too. I’m not sure that I’ll be able to wake up on time to go to work since I’ve been getting up when it’s much warmer. The episodes in the second season are better than the last few of the first season. I thought that they had ended the first season kinda bad and it wasn’t as funny, but the first few episodes of the second season are hilarious. It was great. I even watched an episode of the West Wing, which was excellent. It was the Game On episode where President Bartlett goes into a debate with Gov. Richey of Florida. I like that episode because it just has so much of the things that I like about the show. It really is a good one to watch and when I save enough money, I’ll get the whole set for seasons 1-4. That’s my next goal. At the end of the day, I watched a movie. It was a great movie and a very good way to end the day with Batman Begins. I really like that movie because of the message behind it and because it’s intense.
