Meeting in Shibuya
I finally left the house today, again. Even after the run in yesterday, I can’t exclude myself from society too long. I had an appointment to meet one of my friends that I met at Grossmont. I think this was the beginning of when my sleeping patterns got really messed up and I’ve been staying up way too late. I mean I didn’t get up till the afternoon today. And I mean around 2pm when the temperature is starting to get cold. As you can clearly see, much of my day is wasted. And since I needed to meet my friend at 5pm at Shibuya I had to leave by 3pm to get there on time.
I managed to get ready and go on time and arrived there a little early even. I got lucky and jumped onto the limited express trains to Shibuya on the Tokyu Toyoko line. I enjoyed a lot of reading on the way, which is a great way to spend my time I think.
The first thing that we did was go to dinner. I haven’t seen this person in a long time, partly because I’ve been avoiding them, but I figure it’s a new year and maybe things have changed. I found out that she isn’t as bad as I originally thought, still sort of bad, but tolerable. She’s the typical Japanese youngster that loves to drink and smoke, and spend money like there’s no tomorrow. I mean we only had a little to eat and one drink each and the bill was about $40. I guess it was kinda posh. We only stayed there for like an hour or so and then moved onto another place to drink. It was Nijiya maru, I think it’s a more famous place. It certainly was impressive with the appearance and how things were set up. It was a little too enclosed for me and they had the heater on way high so it was really hot. We just ordered more drinks, and shared a plate of French fries. Not so bad, only about $25.
But that wasn’t enough, so we went to go Karaoke for another two hours till I needed to catch a train to go home. We went to one of those karaoke boxes, because she has a membership card that gave us another 5% off. I’m not sure if it really helped or not, but still a discount is better than nothing. I think I started to get bored after the first hour. I mean it was too much singing, and she’s not a great singer so it was a bit of a drag to have to sit there for two hours listening. I’m sure she had the same thoughts about me, since I was doing some Japanese songs that I haven’t tried before and I couldn’t read some of the Kanji so it was bad. After that concluded though, it was about another $20. But that wasn’t enough for her, so before we parted ways, she stopped off at Starbucks to get something. Just so you know, Starbucks in Japan is more of a rip-off than in the States. This is why, the prices are the same, but the largest size here is about the same as the small in the States.
Anyways, I enjoyed another reading session while I was going home. So that was nice. I didn’t get home till around midnight and then jumped on the computer.
