Graduation Rehearsal ... actually not really

Today, I thought I would be going to the graduation rehearsal, but really it was the farewell party for the senior students. It’s like a second party for the seniors and actually the last thing that the seniors basically get to participate in before they leave high school. It’s a show of a sort that included many acts from the students in the clubs, like the cheerleading club and the brass band club. There were other students who just wanted to get up there and show their dance moves. The teachers performed a little skit for the students too. I had a little part, meaning only one line and only three words. It was English and we didn’t want to burden the students who were trying to follow along. It was based on the famous drama in Japan about a school, it’s called Gokusen. I have never seen it and have no idea what it’s about, but I know it’s famous and it’s about a school. This lasted for the remaining part of the morning and into the afternoon. It was interesting to see and a culture all in itself. I think it’s a good display of the student’s ability to do what they feel and actually act the way they want to.

After that we got treated to a sushi lunch by the headmaster, which was nice, but definitely not enough. It was tasty but not enough to be considered a lunch. I didn’t stay too much longer. I left school around 2:30pm so I could get home early and pay rent. That’s always an important thing to take care of. I came home and paid the rent and then heard of a few other things that I should put in my calendar about things that are coming up. HT is going to be moving out of the house and into an apartment because he will start university soon. And another friend will be leaving Japan to study English in Canada. So we will do a going away party for her. I think it will be interesting for her since she speaks as much English as I do Japanese. Actually I think she speaks less. I think I might have done laundry today, but not sure and can’t remember.
