On the computer all day
Today I spent updating my xanga. I went back to older entries and filled up what I could remember about the days since I was too tired then to write an entry. Well at least a complete entry. It took a long time to do it basically because I did many other things in between that distracted me from finishing.
I have decided that I will begin to e-mail all my friends for the summer to see how they are doing. I only got through 5 e-mails before I really got tired, but I think just a little a day will take about a week or month or so to finish. But we’ll see how many I could do every once in awhile. I think that as time goes by I’ll be able to finish more than 5 a day. Since some of them are all in Japanese. I need to start using that more. I think that by the end of this year, I’ll be more fluent and able to carry a longer conversation in Japanese. That’s the goal I’ve set for the second year being in Japan. I’ve been studying a little everyday this summer vacation. I mainly study online going to different Japanese teaching websites. I find learning online is easier for me to understand since I’m already used to looking at the computer screen. Reading from the textbook makes me want to sleep. But I’ve got to do both. I need to finish the Red Genki book this summer and start on the green one. I think that by the end of the summer I should be in chapter 3-4 in the second volume. Let’s see how that goes, since I still have 4 more chapters in the red book to finish.
I’m thinking about taking the proficiency test, maybe level 3. It’s out of 5 and 1 is the highest and hardest level. Most Japanese work places require a level of 2, but since I already have a job here, I’m not really worried about that. I just want to learn so I could say that I know Japanese and it would be something that would be incredible for me to learn. It would be another language in the list that I’ve grown over the years. But I do need to refresh the other languages too, or I’ll forget them all. I feel that I’m losing my Spanish, although I think that if I were to listen to it, I’d be able to pick it up right away.
It was damn hot today too. I really didn’t feel like doing anything really. I just sat in front of my fan all day. I didn’t have much of a plan other than work on the finishing touches on my website and to update my xanga. I finally uploaded it online too. But only up till July 4th since most of my friends just recently updated it to July 4th. I was chatting for a little bit online too. It’s the same people that are online when I’m online though. I wonder where everyone is. Are they actually spending time away from the computer… that’s unbelievable! Just kidding. I think that I’ll begin to spend more time away from the computer because my friends have started to come back from studying in the U.S. I made plans to hang out with my friends in Shinjuku tomorrow and have dinner with them. That should be pretty fun, even though I had dinner with one of them yesterday. The other person I haven’t seen since spring break in San Diego.
