Death of my watch

The watch that my uncle gave me years ago finally died today. I’ve had it for many many years, I think from junior high school. I’m not wearing it anymore, but it serves as my watch that I look at when I’m on the computer and to tell the time since my computer clock is set to San Diego time. It’s a bit sad since it’s now just useless and it’s a pretty good idea that I already had it replaced or I’d be screwed. I guess I knew it was going to happen sooner or later, I’m glad I planned for that when I moved to Japan.

I woke up at 10am today, and was really shocked at how hot it has become in the morning. The afternoon is cooler than the morning which is really ridiculous. I think that I’m about to die. I didn’t do much today but just sit in front of my computer downloading a bunch of songs. It was pretty much from one musical group, which I love to death. I have all of their CD’s but that’s actually pretty useless for me because I don’t listen to CD’s in Japan. I have an mp3 player so I needed to find those songs on that format. I think that I have been able to get all the ones that I want, which have totaled to a lot of songs and I’m thinking about transferring them to the player soon. I’m not sure when though since I think it’s pretty good to keep all of my other songs on the player still too. I think that I might do it tonight, but I’m also thinking about doing it later this week too. I guess I’ll just have to go with the flow and do it when it feels right to change. I changed the songs on my playlist for winamp to include all those new songs.

But in the afternoon it really cooled off. It was the strangest thing. It was very windy too, which was nice because the breeze was cool, but it messed up everything in my room. Today was the first day that I went a majority of the day without the fan being on. It was that cool today, which my guess would be somewhere around 27 degrees Celsius or maybe a little bit lower than that.

Today I have to pay my rent, and that’s all I have planned for today. I think that getting some food will be involved in the day’s plan, even though some days I can go without. My landlord told me that I should be careful this week. As someone predicted that there might be a big Earthquake this week. They assume that it will occur on August 5th which is a Friday. I don’t have any plans for that day other than to stay home, but MTki told me that it’s dangerous staying inside the house. She suggested that I go out somewhere. But I would think that’s silly because I wouldn’t want to be stranded somewhere without all my emergency materials since that would be the only time I would actually get to be able to use it. She has all her Earthquake readiness equipment ready, so I’m sure that this is the real deal. I mean there has been a series of Earthquakes this week and last week, so I’m pretty sure that all of this has been built up over a long time. I mean there was supposed to be a really big Earthquake two years ago when I came to Japan too, but since there has been a string of them and they have been pretty strong, I’m guessing this one might be true.

After I paid rent, I took a short walk to Hongodai station and ended up at Ishikawacho station. I was hungry for some dinner, but I really wasn’t sure what I wanted to eat. It was already getting kind of late and I didn’t want to stay out too late since I’ll have to get up really early tomorrow. I want to be able to get enough rest and to be able to get to Ibaraki early too so I could hang out a lot since I’d have to come back early. I ended up going to Yoshinoya since it would be fast and easy. I wanted to go to a Denny’s like restaurant because I could just sit back and take my time and study. I brought my Japanese textbook, which I made a copy for easy carrying. I was hoping to get some of that done today since I really haven’t been studying lately, but instead I was reading the Alchemist. It’s getting pretty good now since the boy has just met the Alchemist. I think I’m going to try to finish it tonight so I could start on a new book tomorrow. I want to get as much reading out of the way this summer since I have the time and I should be using it to build my future on and learning all the things that I need to learn in that time so when I leave Japan, I’ll be able to put them into good use.
