Meguro-ku High School Tennis tournament

I woke up at 5:30am to go to this event. You can’t even begin to imagine how tired I was today. I didn’t get to sleep till late last night, since I arrived home late last night.

I met the Head Coach at 8:30am at Gakugei-Daigaku station. It was the first time that I actually went out of the station so that was different. The tennis courts were very close to the station that I wondered why we even took a car to get there.

The tournament started at 9am, but none of my girls started till around 10am. So we had to wait for a little bit. I saw most of the matches today for our team. Most of them didn’t do so well, and a few of them went on for the whole day.

There was one doubles team that won 3 matches and is now in the semi-finals. And the number one seed is from our school and they are expected to win the tournament so we were in good hands. But what I want to do is to get all of them up on the podium, so I’ll have to work with the ones that lost early today so they don’t do that next time.

The tournament ended at 5pm and at this time I was already about to die. The tournament didn’t finish either; we’ve gotten to the top 8 teams, so we will have to schedule a time when they could play again. The first day for the next tournament is October 2nd, which could be a bad day if it rains on October 1st because that’s our sports festival day. And it would be bad for me because I have a wedding to attend that day too. I’ll try to make it for both, but then again, there aren’t any promises on that.

After the tournament, me and the head coach had dinner with former students of the tennis team that came to support the team. This is usual and we went to a conveyor belt sushi place near the station. It wasn’t as great as I thought it would be, but I still enjoyed it. I ate a lot, even though I didn’t think that I did. I feel really full right now though. But I thought I could have ate more too. It was a fun day and I’m glad that I got a chance to see the girls play against other teams. I think that they are starting to look at me like a coach, since I was offering tips to become better and I think it might have worked since one of the doubles team got really far into it. They still have things to improve on, but they are getting better.

Also today it started to rain. During the tournament, it rained just a little, but when I was going home it started to pour. I quickly ran to a supermarket place so I could buy an umbrella and other miscellaneous things. But as I left the market, it stopped raining. But there was a lot of lightning with no thunder as I was walking home. Then when I got home, it started to rain, like really really hard. I mean it’s very loud right now and that’s keeping me awake to type this. Otherwise I’d probably be sleeping by now. I’m going to try to get some shut eye now since I set my alarm for 5:30am since work will be starting soon and I need to get back to the swing of things.

Tomorrow, I’m off to finish all the things for my visa and I’ll have to get a bit of cash out to pay for it all and hopefully buy some health insurance tomorrow too.
