Going back to Tokyo and Shabu-Shabu
On the way back to Tokyo was a tough schedule. After all, we had spent the past two days with a rushed and altered schedule because of rain and just because things changed. Today was mainly a day for cleaning, and it was a shame that the students didn’t get a chance to see Mt. Fuji again. The male teachers woke up later today than we did yesterday. Not because we were more tired, even though we were, but because we wanted to. We were supposed to be out of the cabin by 5am, but we didn’t leave until 6:15am. We needed to clean the cabin because we’d be leaving soon. And we watched over the girls playing games, but there weren’t too many of them playing so we had other things to do too. Breakfast started at 7am, so time seemed to go by really fast.
After breakfast, it was just packing and getting everything in order. We brought a lot of stuff to the Gotemba location and then we needed to put everything back. So after breakfast, we needed to scramble to find and pack everything before the closing ceremony, which was around 11am.
At the closing ceremony, awards were given out. I had to give an award for the English contest for the top three groups from two days ago. They all did a really good job and I was happy with the results. It was a good closing ceremony, except for the part where I had to say something about the trip… in Japanese. I had to do it in front of all the students too. That wasn’t very fun though. Then we grabbed lunch before we started to head back to Tokyo.
On the bus back to Tokyo, I had noticed something that I didn’t notice before, but they have a big boy burger there. I haven’t eaten there in a long time and haven’t even seen one in a long time in the U.S. and in Japan. That was pretty cool, at least I thought so.
I kinda stuck around school after we got back for a little while. We didn’t have anything to do for about an hour and a half. The trip took a bit longer since there was traffic on the way back. We arrived at school around 4:30pm and then dinner with the teachers who went on the trip was 6pm.
We went to the shabu-shabu place for the evening. We had the usual dinner, and it was delicious and it was to the point of stomach bursting full, like all the other events at the school where we eat a lot. Everyone kept their speeches short as did I, so it went by pretty quickly.
