A great Tuesday
I don’t have many great Tuesdays under my belt. That’s because I usually teach the toughest classes for me on this day. I have an 8th grade class that is really low level because they just don’t care. And the same goes for the 11th grade class that I teach today. Most of the students don’t really have motivation to learn since they are in the lowest level classes and they know it. That’s the horrible part about it. They separate the classes according to level, so the students act accordingly to their level and some care, and some don’t.
But today, I think that I finally got through to the 11th grade class. I will need some more work with the 8th grade class though. They were pretty tough today because they just were out of it or something. I’m not sure what’s going on with them, but I will need to add some more accountability on them and to start calling on them individually to answer questions, but that could provoke resistance. So I’m going to have to develop a better plan of attack.
I was also with another 8th grade class and 7th grade class today. They were average and those went pretty smoothly today. Since the topic of the day in 8th grade was Daily schedules and Families for the 7th grade. In 11th grade, we just played the Raps CD that CP bought awhile back. I wanted to get them used to dictation and listen well. They will have listening comprehension as part of their assessment this semester so I want to get them ready for that with some listening exercises. I think they will need some work before they can do well on this test, but we will see how that goes.
English club today was ok. I didn’t do much but the students did. That’s what’s more important. They were just planning for the cultural festival coming at the end of next month. They haven’t really started much yet, so that’s a bad thing. Last year, they had more things finished than they do this year, so I want to help them get the ball rolling a little faster so they can do a good job this year, since it will be their last chance to do it.
I left school around 6pm which is a bit early for me and I had dinner at the Chinese restaurant near Hongodai station. It was pretty good and I had wonton ramen. I came home and took a shower and got ready for bed, but I didn’t sleep. I went on the computer and started doing a bunch of things and that really slowed me down from getting some zzz’s. I wanted to sleep early today, since I’ll have to leave for work early tomorrow to get to work on time and I’m tired from not sleep enough last night. I only got about 4 hours because I woke up from a dream. Not sure if it was a nightmare or not, but I just got up. Then there was another huge ass spider in my room again. I realized that they are coming in from the outside and climb up my stairs. I think so, but it was huge and this one was very fast too. That was my problem and I didn’t end up killing it, but I scared it to go outside, well I think I did. I sprayed it with a bunch of things since I didn’t think I’d be fast enough to kill it with a magazine or anything like that. I had a water-proofing spray that I shot it with. I think tomorrow I’ll have to buy some bug spray to get rid of those nuisances like them.
