A day at home

I was planning to go out to do some shopping today, but somehow the only thing I did outside of my house was take out the trash and pay my bills. I got something at the local convenient store so I wouldn’t starve, but somehow I never got around to getting to the shopping that I wanted to do. I was able to get my laundry done today. That is nice since I’ll need some clean clothes for tomorrow.

I just stayed at my computer today. I was chatting up a storm today. I probably talked to about 5 people today online, which really isn’t usual since the time zone difference to the people I talk to. That’s a funny thing all in itself that I hardly talk to anyone in Japan. That’s not a good thing I think and I’ve got to start getting out and getting to talk to people and being a part of this culture. But I’ve been damn lazy lately. I just don’t feel like going out.

I was talking to a friend of mine that I haven’t talked to for a long time. She used to go to the school that I work at now. She paid a visit to the school this summer, but I wasn’t there. She was telling me a lot about her time at the school and what she liked and what she didn’t. It was a very interesting conversation and one that I gained a lot from. I found out what some of the teachers thought about me and I’m happy to report that they like me. I’m really enjoying the situation that I’m in living in Japan and having all the freedom that I have now. I know that I’ve got to enjoy it while it lasts since it’ll all be a distant memory when I go back to the United States.

I worked on my website a little more today and I’m thinking about adding a lot more flash components on the next version that I release as an update with cooler features. I’ve been working on my English site since that’s going to involve a lot of time to put up and to perfect. It’s too bad that right now I’m only focusing on design and not on content, but I’m a web designer more than a content person. Although I think I ought to be more of a content person since I’m an English teacher.

It’s still not nearly complete or barely even started is a better way of putting it. But I’m glad that at the very least, I started. I’m thinking about new things to add to my site to make it more appealing to me and something that I could go back to and find out new information and new things to see. I need to update my pictures link and other things like that. I want to change some content on the pages of my site and to add things that make it look better and more functional. I think that there is too many words and not enough aesthetic spaces to catch one’s eyes. So I’ll be working on that for the next few weeks. I did a lot of research for the Santa Barbara trip that the 9th grade students will be taking and I think that I’ll add that to the website to make it more relevant so I have resources available for when I have to teach those lessons.
