A quick day
I started today off today different from usual. I met up with CHda at Jiyugaoka at 11am for lunch before going to school. We went to a hole in the wall pasta place. Actually the name of the restaurant is hole in the wall, but in Japanese. I thought that was interesting. It was pretty good and it actually wasn’t a hole in the wall since it was on the 3rd floor of a shopping building. It was nice, I had ordered a weird pasta mix, which was sea urchin and dried fish. It sounded interesting and the problem that I had with it was that it was too dry. I had to use Tabasco to kick up the flavor a lot. We had a pretty interesting conversation about many things today. I really enjoy spending time with her and will really miss her of all the people in Japan.
From there we went to school together and lunch had already started so the school was all in a hustle and bustle. I was talking with some of the teachers during lunch and I wanted to find out what the students did while they were in Santa Barbara so I asked for a schedule. I decided to translate it myself too. I didn’t have time to finish before the first class started for me.
The 5th period class today was with 10th grade yuri. They were working on comparing the similarities and differences between America and Japan. They had some pretty interesting answers and it was good because they were really thinking about it. Most of the students were pretty serious with it and really worked at it even though they were in groups of 4. They usually don’t do well in groups, but I was glad that they were doing it today.
The last class today was with 8th grade fuji. They were very chatty today and they were working on the section about asking permission. We did the dialogue and then we went over the answers for the puzzle of unscrambling words. After we finished all of that, we had the students stand up and get into groups to put post it notes on the items that they learned. It was pretty interesting and the students know where things are and what they are, so that’s good. I think they enjoyed it, but they were really chatty. So they were assigned homework to complete since they ate up a lot of class time being all chatty.
I stayed after school till around 5pm. I finished all the work that I wanted to do and was just sitting there most of the time. I finished translating the schedule for Santa Barbara and even had a teacher check it. It was perfect, so that was good for me and my Japanese ability. I really didn’t have much to do after that, but help students with the recitation contest. I was helping them practice. I decided that since I wasn’t doing anything and it was raining and I couldn’t play tennis with the club, I left. I wanted to go out and eat, but I will wait till after Europe to go eat out since I want to save up some spending money while I’m there. I finished off the dinner that I made a few days ago. I don’t like having leftovers that many days, so it was good that I finished it. I watched some TV tonight too, which is pretty usual. There wasn’t really anything that interesting. But there is a show that I really like about taking trips. It shows the houses of really rich people, but they seem like normal people. It is a game where other celebrities have to guess how much things are. After that I showered and now I’m going to sleep since its a little past 1am. I have been sleeping late recently and I feel like I’m not getting enough.
