Tokyo Disney Sea

So today we embarked on the trip to Chiba where the Tokyo Disney Resort is located. It wasn’t as far as I thought it would be. We woke up in the morning, much earlier than we have been recently, which was good because we wanted to get a good start on the day. I think that the rest day was good because everyone had enough energy to get up on time to leave in the morning.

We jumped on the bus to get to Totsuka and then went to Tokyo via the Tokaido line. Then we transferred to the Keiyo line to Maihama station. I haven’t been on this train or train line before so it was a first for me. The platform is located very far from the other platforms, which I thought was weird and it took a good five minute walk, just to get there and we went a few levels underground too. The trip in total took about an hour and a half, which is still faster than what it takes me to get to school. That’s a sad fact indeed.

We arrived at the station and then had to take the Disney Resort line to get to the entrance of the park. That was the tricky part about it and the location of the Maihama station. It takes up an extra 200 yen to get there, which I never read about anywhere, so I wasn’t expecting it. The monorail ride there was pleasant though. The park wasn’t very full yet, so that was good.

We hit up the good rides first and then chilled in the afternoon. We got a fast pass for Journey to the Center of the Earth first and then went to Indiana Jones. The line was about a 40 minute wait and that went by very quickly since there are many things to see around there. The ride was a bit boring, but it was the first time I had gone to any amusement park with family in ages, so it was nice to be with them for the day. I think my mom really enjoyed it too since we are all grown up now and won’t have a chance to do that probably ever again. We got a picture of us on the ride too. It was a good picture of us since we were in the front row.

Soon after we got off the ride, we quickly ran to Storm Rider, which is something similar to Honey I shrunk the audience and Star Tours combined. That was fun the first time I rode on it, but after going on it before, it seemed a bit lame for me. I’m not sure if I was just getting tired of it or if it was just lame. I mean it was good and my family had a few good laughs from it, when the ride scared the shit out of some poor kid. Although that’s not a funny thing and it’s mean to laugh at, well, I’m an asshole so it’s ok.

After the ride, it was a good time for lunch since it was already around 12:30pm. We decided to get some Mexican food at a canteen place. It wasn’t the best Mexican food place that I’ve been to. It was relatively inexpensive since I bought three dishes for four people and it was about $30 for the meal. It was good enough to get us all full and able to continue with the Disney adventure. That was all that we needed it for anyways. We ordered Fajitas Trio, Soft Tacos, and a lunch boxed set, well a scaled down version. I like the soft tacos and would recommend that for anyone who decides to eat there.

From there, our fast pass was about to start so we started to go to Journey to the center of the Earth. It was neat little ride, but a tad bit boring. I guess they needed to have a more interesting ride and something like the Matterhorn in Disneyland in Anaheim, and this would be it. It has only one mild dip in the end of the ride. But everything else is pretty boring, much like the beginnings of Splash Mountain, but without all the songs and singing and dancing. That was the end of all the rides for the day.

We wanted to catch some shows, so we walked to mermaid lagoon and saw the under the sea production. That was pretty good for my family to see. We didn’t get as great of seats as I would have liked or planned, but since the show is suspended in the air, it didn’t really matter.

From there we went to the Arabian Coast to watch the Shabon show. I really enjoyed it last time I came, but this time, it did lose a bit of its flare. I’m not sure why, but I didn’t enjoy it as much as I did last time. It was still funny for me and since I understood more this time, it was also much better.

It was getting really cold about this time. We wanted to watch the main New Years show and stopped half way getting there to get some mini churros and smoked turkey leg. Both were just ok and nothing that I would get too excited about. Although when I saw it, I did get a bit giddy about eating churros again.

By this time, it was getting really really cold and we decided that we would just leave the park after doing some shopping. We couldn’t handle the coldness. I was under 4 layers of the thickest clothes that I had and I was still cold. So the wind chill was a major factor as well. It was getting darker and it was too much for my family to handle. We settled inside some souvenir shops for the heat and the gifts. Soon after that, we left for home.

We stopped at the supermarket to get some stuff to cook dinner tonight. It’s really nice to have my mom around and have food prepared for me at home. It tasted very good too and I had a lot to eat tonight. We were watching the American President DVD while eating dinner. I love that movie, I really do. We watched some TV shows after that, and then went to bed. They have been sleeping for a few hours now and I can’t get to sleep for some reason. It’s already 2am, and I’m just now getting tired. I don’t know why I can’t get to sleep till late in the night. It’s bad since we will have to get up early tomorrow for the last full day that my family will be in Japan. That is kind of sad for me to say actually.

I ran into a little bit of a dilemma tonight too. I was checking my MIXI account today and one of my former students had found me on the site. I’m not sure what their motive is and how I should respond or to even handle it. I’m just thinking about what I could do. Got any ideas?
