Making Curry

It was very hot today. The high today was about 30 degrees Celsius which is what it usually is during summer. It’s still spring and only near the beginning of spring so today’s weather was all messed up. I couldn’t believe how hot it was today. Today was the first day this year where I wore a t-shirt and shorts. It was summer clothes, which reminded me of San Diego because the weather was hot and not humid.

I woke up and the first thing I did was go on my computer to see if I had any news today, but unfortunately I didn’t have any news. I’m very eager to find out if I got into the university I want to go to. But there were other things I needed to take care of today, so I didn’t worry about that too much. I woke up surprisingly early today for some reason and I guess it was because of the heat and I was still in my winter blankets, so it was heavier than usual. After I decided to get up I started to clean up a little bit around the house. Things in both rooms needed to be picked up because I was going to have a guest over today and I wanted things to be neater. I started with the other room or the guest room first because that’s where we would spend all of our time. I had a lot of things just lying around that should just be picked up and moved to a place other than that room. I moved all my clothes that were hanging into the other closet too so now I have more space in my bedroom. Well, it seems like I have more space anyways.

I was going to have a friend come over today and we were going to make curry rice. She was going to show me how to do it. I had a general idea of how to make it, but since I haven’t made it before, I didn’t know what exactly to do. I wanted to try it out on my own, but having a friend come over to show me how to do it was a better idea so I don’t mess it up. I had bought all the ingredients yesterday, so things went pretty smoothly today with the preparation work. I had a lot of things in the fridge, which was good I think. Usually it is quite empty.

When she arrived, we talked for a few hours and then I showed her some of the pictures from college, and I think that she liked it. I think she wanted to learn more about me. So it was a good conversation that we had. My place really looked much better today than it has usually since everything is usually cluttered in my humble apartment. She was very envious of my single life, since she’s married now and she feels restrained. I don’t know exactly how she feels about that, but I know I’m not ready for that kind of life. We were talking a little bit about her family too. It was interesting to hear and I would like to meet her younger sister some day. She found out about my ex-girlfriends from the pictures and she made some comments. I thought that they were funny and how she views people differently than I view them.

After looking at the pictures, we got started on making the curry. The curry was actually finished before the rice was so we had to wait around a little bit and talked before we could eat. We started eating around 6:30pm and she thought she needed to leave at 7pm so she could get home and cook dinner for her husband. But it turned out that the school’s basketball team won today in the regional competition and might make it to Kanto area basketball tournament at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gym. That meant her husband would have to go eat dinner with the basketball coach and some other teachers to celebrate.

The curry turned out wonderful. It was really delicious and enough for the both of us. I had bought some stuff to eat with it too and she bought some dessert for after dinner, even though neither one of us ate it. We were watching NHK news as we were eating. It felt a little awkward having her at my house at this point and talking about her husband. She seems happy, but there is something there that is hurting her inside and it is pretty evident. But I’m glad that she’s happier now being a part-time teacher and not having the stress of being a full-time teacher. I think that it’s interesting how life changes and the things that go on in life.

After wards, I had another serving and then relaxed a little bit. I cleaned up a bit more and then went on the computer to type up a few entries. It was still hot all night till around 1am. I think that was about the time that I was starting to feel tired and wanting to sleep. But I really couldn’t because it was so hot. But later in the evening the weather changed and it began to be very cold.
